The Abbey is situated on the banks of a river which rarely overflows its banks, and provides water throughout the year. In the shadows of a mountain, naturally hemmed in by a grove of trees, it is not visited except by those who know its there. The abbey is of stone construction, with gardens, stables, libraries, housing, kitchens, prayer rooms, a broad chapel, and a hospital wing. Its members care for the lost stranger, study earnestly, and strive for spiritual attainment.

William Thanegood, its newest member, spends time penning letters home to his parents. It is through him that we interact with the Abbey, listening in live as he writes his letters with thoughtful descriptions and poignant assertions about what he sees, hears, and learns.
